This Euston Station luggage trolley is a bit lost….
this is my first zonetag pic. It uses the geolocation info from the n95 GPS. main problem is that the GPS takes over a minute to get a lock on the satellite and is very power hungry. Also doesn’t work that well unless you are outside.
It may turn out that GPS is overkill for easy geo location. cell or even wifi trig are ample for most situations. (check out google mobile maps )
I’m looking forward to seeing what fireeagle can do, it’s a development of zonetag in private alpha right now, just waiting for my invite…..

While some may mock about the iPhone’s pseudo GPS (it uses cellsite triangulation and wifi signals’ known positions) it is relatively quick, works indoors and out, and is quite adequate for photo tagging. Those with a jailbroken iPhone can download iFlickr which adds geotags to photos, among other things.
Potentially, the future’s hybrid - using GPS where you can, but dropping back to lesser tech when required. Multiple inputs: just use what works.
Hurray, new blog.
